What we are going to make is a basic dry rub. And when we say basic, it means that all the ingredients can be easily found and it’s very simple to make.
There are varieties of dry rub and most of them contains uncommon ingredient. But this one is different because all of the ingredients of this rub can be found at your local grocery store. Maybe some of them are already at your kitchen.
So why do we need to make this dry rub?
There are lots of recipe that requires dry rub especially the barbecues, so it will be an advantage to keep one in handy. And soon I’ll be posting recipes that makes use of dry rub. So if you make one now, the future recipes will become very easy to make and less time to consume.
The process of making a basic dry rub is pretty simple. You just need to mix all the ingredients and it’s done. Though some of the ingredient needs to be grinded first, you may need to use a coffee grinder or just mortar & pestle for that.
Even if we are not going to use the dry rub yet, you don’t have to worry at all. Because a dry rub can last a year if you place it in an air tight container.

- 1 tsp sea salt
- 1 tsp paprika
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp mustard powder
- 1 tbsp chipotle powder
- 1 tbsp rosemary leaves
- 3 tbsp black peppercorns
- Blend rosemary leaves and peppercorns in a coffee grinder, Mortar & Pestle, or whatever equipment you can use to blend them well.
- Mix all the ingredients in a small bowl.
- If you are not going to use it all or use it yet, place it in an airtight container to retain freshness.
If you want you can add chili powder to make it spicy.
Just multiply all the ingredients if you need to make more.
